Cena Romantica a ULTIMO

Before i went to Bali, i already warned my friends that i have to, must to, take up no reasons not to visit this renowned Italian restaurant which is located at the busy Seminyak street. I didn't know what makes me craves so much for this Ultimo whereas i never been to, or frankly speaking experiencing it. But, surely there was some kind of magnet that dragged me despite the bustle and haste of having flight straight after this last dinner we had in Bali.

To reassure i've made the right decision especially as our last dinner where routines seems happily waiting behind the clouds, i took some times surfing Ultimo, many good reviews raving in and surprised how friendly the prices are. It literally took three days just to got our seats. I chose location by the garden where every tables covered with white and red table cloth as much as is proper in an Italian fine dining.

The services were helpful, prompt and friendly. I love how the ambiance was intimately enlivening our night. Yes, it took quite a long time to got the foods ready. Luckily, a basket of complimentary breads on our tables managed to prop the starve. No complains goes to their freshly baked complimentary bread, it smelled good and tasted good especially the cheese sticks. It was addictive, didn't realize tho it was nearly empty ended up by me.

their table arrangement with a basket of complimentary with a scoop of butter. I don't know what butter they used but it was so good paired up with the freshly baked bread.

Creamy Lime Crush and Ultimo Punch IDR 25.000/each

My favorites were these dynamic duo.. both were refreshing and sweet. Tbh, i forgot the details because it is a postpone post for about 3-4months now. The only let down was a drink called True Colors which tasted quite bland for me.

Large Grilled Seafood IDR 60.000

Grilled squids and a shrimp topped with garlic sauce. The vegetables were crunch and seasoned. Actually, it was quite good.. Too bad, the squids were quite hard to chew.

Small Filetto Pepe Verde IDR 68.000

Beef fillet with delicious mashed potato on side. A fantastic dish where the beef was so tender and the flavors were all there.. The sauce was seriously good. I mean, even i tasted this about 3-4months ago. I can still remember how good it was. I dare you to find this kind of menu for 68k in a good dining place at Jakarta. I bet you won't find it. I could tasted a hint of brandy though.

Large Dori Fish IDR 80.000 (the bill said so)

I vaguely remember what kind of sauce they used for this dish. But as i recalling back it was zesty with bit lemon tasted like. Rest assured, the dori itself was juicy and again, seasoned beautifully like Gordon Ramsay said. What i love from Ultimo is, they care even the tiny bit details such as the vegetables. They really gave each of their vegetables a justice. Oh, their mashed potato included. Every of their mashed potatoes served on our plates were soft, creamy but not too much.

Panacota IDR 27.000

That raspberry sauce below tasted too sour even for me.. i couldn't handle it. However, the panacota was perfect! It was milky and everything a good panacota should be.

Zabaione IDR 35.000

It supposed to be Zabaglione, but the bill said different. It was my very first time to tried this Italian dessert made from egg yolks, sugar and Marsala wine. The texture was creamy and foamy. Again, i think they used the same kind of raspberry sauce like what they did on their panacota. Too eccentric even for my palate. Not a fan of this dessert i must say. One thing that matter the most is : Hey, i've tried Zabaglione!

I really enjoyed times we spent here at Ultimo. Generous portion, romantic ambiance, competitive price, wide menu selections, great services and top of that.. the tax was only 10%. That's all! Trust me, this is a rare finding. I'll definitely pay a second visit when i happened to be around. Although we rushed our way back to airport, it was definitely worth it.

Cork & Screw : Triple Treats

About few weeks ago while having a sort of crazy conversation ourselves, we accidentally overheard something interesting from across our seat. It was a group of friends discussed certain places to rent branded bags. It was seriously an irresistable temptation situation where we have to slowly but with wholly enthusiasm respond to their topic for ourselves. Jakartan's especially me and my friends called it "kepo" but.. i think it's okay to have a finger in the pie once in a while. It's good to be good, but it's better to be bad. Nah, i'm just kidding..... Well. we just need a thing we called it balance and that what makes us, human.. i guess =P

But, nah.. we didn't fire away bad comments about it anyway..

During fasting season, they have special buffet package for IDR 125.000/pax but now, it is no longer fasting season, isn't it?

When you hear the name, Cork & Screw.. what firstly crossed your mind? Wine! Personally, i didn't see where they put their wine collections, but from what i've heard they have wide selection of wines from all over the world which is a magnet for wine adorers out there. But, we came there not for wine time instead having one good lunch and chatting at the same time. This restaurant which is situated just across Opus Cafe, Plaza Indonesia definitely not a newcomer therefore, i'm certainly sure most you have been here. I know, i'm so late posting this.. i know, i know but please feel my sincerity to share it with you guys, okay? har har har..

Upon arrival, they asked whether we wanted to be seated at the smoking or non-smoking section. Knowing their non-smoking was only the bar area indoor with one elongated table plus to be share with the other costumers, and that definitely will reduce our quality chatting time, so we decided to seated at the smoking area which wasn't smoky at all.

A waitress came to our table to noted our orders, she successfully answered every questions about the foods we asked. Prompt and politely served us. A different feeling when you noticed their pr or something wearing all black uniform looking at us when i took pictures with that somehow less pleasant feels.

har har har.. narcissistic a bit won't kill, right?

"Ask not what you can do for your country. Ask what's for lunch"
                                                                                        -Orson Welles

While i had dori for lunch, my friend had Baked Tuna Cannelloni instead. An italian dish with pumpkin sauce. Cannelloni is a large type of pasta generally served baked with a filling and covered by sauce. The sauce itself was intriguing. Usually cannelloni served with tomato or bechamel sauce. Bechamel also known as white sauce made with a roux of butter and flour cooked in milk. This dish was like ten times better than mine. Its meat filling inside was quite generous and the cannelloni itself was fulfilling and tasted good. It wasn't flavorful exploding, savory or peppery but it was nice with homey feeling eating pastel in a bit bland and Italian version The pumpkin sauce gave a nice kick toward the entire dish.

This was like my most overrated dish for the month. Sniffed something good when it served on my table but apparently it was just the smell. This Dori was nowhere crisp and savory. Very soft (not in a good way) dori fish that will crumble like pastries even when you softly cut it with your spoon. The sauce itself didn't help so much. I think it was the cut which made the dori texture felt so thin. I couldn't bring myself enjoyed this dish although i've tried. Plus, the wedges which i hoped will be the rescuer also tasted flavorless, wet and mushy.

Nonetheless, the disappointment have to end here because right after this point nothing will gone bad. For the drink we had refreshing Holly Berry which really refreshing blend between soda, strawberries and yoghurt then topped with strawberry ice cream. I love this drink, i must say their ice cream was really good, quite thick and milky. It was my friend's also, while i had something-something beverage which wasn't as good as holly berry. pic no2 which was mine was milky but not sweet for my liking. The berries inside didn't stood up so that the milky tasted was the dominant. Followed up vaguely with not sweet banana then served with satay-style banana and strawberry on top.

And meet the Triple Chocolate Melt

hello... we are trio chocolate buddies, from Cork & Screw kitchen. our biggest happiness when we see our  buyer satisfy after savoring us. those happy smile on their cheeks are our happiness.
i'm the oldest from triple melt family, i'm the mighty dark chocolate melt. I have gooey dark chocolate melt inside me. my body made from quality batter. I love you when you tore me down (is this cake a masochist?) because many of them said, i'm the most delicious one.. especially when you eat me together with white chocolate sauce poured on your plate.
............
(yes.... it really was the best and most favorite out of those three. It was a pleasure lingering in my mouth.)

puh-lease.... you have to eat me carefully, slowly, and the most important happily because i have sweet white chocolate melt inside my body which is different from the other two. As the second brother from triple melt family, i might be too sweet for some, not too chocolaty for some but i know, you are happy to have me... in your belly.
............
(it wasn't too white chocolaty but quite enough to spoiled my tastebud, too sweet for some, but for me.. sweet-toothed gentleman, it feels right)

yippie ho! i'm the youngest from triple melt family. i have the "noir" from my big brah, dark chocolate and the shy side from white chocolate. I'm chocolaty enough but not too chocolaty like my biggest brah yet not too sweet and less chocolaty like second brah.. I'm quite sad to be last for you eat, so when i cry, my body got the melt a bit watery
............
(Honestly, the taste between this and the white chocolate one wasn't that much different. The differences were only on the color, but.. this one was less appealing in the presence of the dark chocolate melt yet on the same grade with the white one)

Cork & Screw is quite a nice place to hang out, enjoy afternoon tea time or indulge yourself with a glass of wine but, not so much if you are aiming to have one full lunch or dinner. Actually, this wasn't my first time coming. Before, i became a food blogger, i've been here before, and yes.. the food didn't impressed me either. Their desserts weren't much of selections. But, really tempting. Next time, i'll try those babies out.

Cargo Bar & Lounge

Let me introduce you the newest additional around Pesanggerahan area, where it is begin to develop with rows of restaurants and any other culinary stations. Cargo is a bar, restaurant, a place to chill out on the sideline or after streaks of hectic routines. Sandwiched between relieve and cranky for the non-smokers, like me. Because this place is a full smoking area. Looking on the bright side, hey.. they have smoke filters which is quite effective, i must say. How about the food? Keep scrolling down, mate.

SevenTo7 : A Brief Flight to Seventh Heaven

I never thought before that meat is fairly complicated until yesterday i listened about it from Ms.Martha, one of those business women who kindly share about her broad knowledge about meat. So, meat lovers.. you are now currently on the right channel. Located behind the majestic pillars of Sampoerna Building, this humble looking meat shop is quite occupied for luncheon. From Sampoerna to Pantai Indah Kapuk, they also has a branch at PIK area. Some of you might be wondering, why Seven to 7? it was originally operating from 7AM - 7PM. that's quite explained it, no?

MOJO Kitchen & Bar

Dear culinary hunters and readers,

I know, nowadays i rarely posts consistently but tonight is different... I am writing this as soon as i pixilated by one of the newest (can i say) gastropub at Senopati area. Skipping classes were surely worth for Mojo.. There are some meanings for Mojo itself such as : "magical charm", "sexual charm", "sauce" in Europe and literally meaning "charm" of "fetish" is an amulet, often a small flannel bag containing one or more magic items, worn by adherents of hoodo/ voodo.

DBD : Detained Birthday Dinner

For not so particular reasons, birthday moments always excites me.. It's not about the glittery gold parties or beautiful wrapped gifts. For me, a birthday is a friendly reminder to be the better me. A day to share some happiness by treating the loves one, grateful i am having them through good and bad, up and down..Thank God who gave me another year to make right what i've done wrong..

Midtown Owl

With a help of a friend, i managed to bought my second Disdus voucher i ever bought in my whole existence. The more i scrolling down, the more i got tempted and finally, i said hello to Midtown Owl. A restaurant with mostly Italian foods options dominating the entire menu. Personally, i think it is smart to put such a rejuvenescence in the midst of a monotone apartment. But, sometimes you just don't really care about it especially if your apartment located just a cross a shopping arcade.

Commune 25

Right after one unsatisfactory early dinner at (just call it) Y, me and the three musketeers immediately rushed to one of the nearest place from it and the decision fell on Commune, Senopati which wasn't too appealing at the same time. The only reason why i went to Commune because my one of my friend recommended it to me. As for me who just recently undergone bad dining experience, this poor stomach demanding to be filled soon with scrumptious dishes although its already quite full. I prayed splashily in my heart, this place gotta be good or the distance taken from my house to Senopati will be die in vain.

Madame Lily

Actually i've been passing through this gray swan looking restaurant when i paid Moovina a visit and been curious since then how good this Madame Lily is, since i did some blog walking and slightly dazed how the price range is quite steep. By the time i passed it through, Madame Lily was quite packed with high-aunties (don't bother it, it's only available on my dict) it's my own appellation toward those aunties whose carrying branded bags with peacock high hair style, usually those who enjoys high tea time and pile of arisan (regular social gathering)

Mustache Me

Not too far from Ninotchka another dessert diner has emerged in Citra Garden 6 housing complex. The name Mustache Me surely piqued my curiosity, it appeared not only me who intrigued. A friend of mine braved a stressful jam and floods from Gading-Citra just to took a peek by herself what this mini restaurant is all about. I love how the place was being humble, homey yet cozy at the same time and (hopefully) the munches are worth the traffic.

Olives House

My heart goes to Jakarta flood victims whose now struggling with shortage of foods materials, clothes and their houses drowned by the flood. These days, Jakarta has been washed by unceasing streaks of rains.I thank God for letting me through the day without any hardships. And today, me with my several friends from high school went to Sumarecon, since the route to Jakarta completely blocked and can't be bypassed because the water level has reached to the point where it couldn't be proceeded.

Bluegrass Bar & Grill

It was Friday and i was looking a place to indulge myself despite all the boredom because my bestie is on her trip to Bangkok for a whole month. So, i decided to made a reservation at Bluegrass a good looking restaurant strategically located just across Otel Lobby. It appeared that Bluegrass is under reconstruction or something. From afar, that fancy looking entrance of it didn't gave any signs. So, i got confuse a little bit. But, there we were, with hungry tummy looking something good to munch.

Beatrice Quarters

Beatrice Quarters is one cute restaurant located at Pantai Indah Kapuk. As i stepped in, the waiters and waitresses welcoming us and ushering us to the table. It's a date between me and my Senior High School friend after one fattening day at Bluegrass (review coming soon) The decorations were undeniably cute and chic. It wasn't that huge and spacey inside. There are just few seats inside and some at the outside. I was like transported to a girl's room with girly wallpaper and furniture. It was surely a feast to the eyes.

Ninotchka : Once is Never Enough

Been countless times visiting this cute coffee parlor, for some reasons this diner successfully attracts me to come over and over again. Reviewed it before ( CLICK ) Established as one of the hippest venue around Citra Garden residential area, i really think Ninotchka doesn't needs any promotions to jack up its name because it is already (really) popular and mostly filled with teenagers and school girls who are fond with sweets.

We Are The Belly Clan!

Sabtu kemarin gue with some of my friends went to one of the newest establishment located at Intiland. Namanya cukup unik dan bikin penasaran "The Belly Clan" dan harusnya sebelum kesini gue reserve tempat dulu deh, soalnya pas sampai disitu tempatnya udah reserved semua tapi kita masih bisa makan disitu sampai jam setengah 8 dan cukup annoying pas setengah 8 itu langsung di kasih tau buat pindah ke bar. Well, next time visit udah wajib banget ya yang namanya reserve apalagi kalau hari Sabtu. Talking about the interior sih sebenarnya biasa aja, masih di dominasi dengan interior kayu berwarna gelap yang cukup enak di lihat mata. Ga terlalu spacey juga, yah menurut gue sih serba standard aja but in a good way. Nothing too fancy or less. Everything just right.

Spageddies : Monday Fever

I just hate when Sunday has come to its peak. Means i gotta face the boring routine as an ordinary college student, which i hope mine was a witch, vampire hunter or something. Facing a day full of idleness and lethargy. I decided to wreak my ire with an All You Can Eat ( AYCE ) package from Spageddies for IDR 85.000++ which is strategically located on the 4th floor of Senayan City. Actually, this is my very first visit since personally i am not a fan of Sency and the AYCE promo is too good to be miss.

Roc N' Ron

“One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.” I do really agree with this fabulous quote by Virginia Woolf. So, i never restrain myself from my voracious eating habit. That day, the rain was heavily dripped, the sky was dark and obscure, and occasionally sounds tight the rumble of thunder. The weather was unceasingly gloomy and made me felt cranky. I do really love rainy season yet ( sometimes ) hate it to the bones, it sort of love hate relationship. And yeah, the traffic was really testing my patience as a patient human being. Lets put aside the weather, and take a look of what Roc n Ron offered to carnivores.

Fresh'n Your Day at BeetBeetle

Muara Karang is like a sacred place for Chinese peoples who loves to eat non-halal foods ( contain pork ) But, it is lack of hangout places like PIK, the haven of goodness which is located just a few km from it. So, here's BeetBeetle appeared as a rejuvenation for young peoples who lives nearby to enjoy Taiwanese snacks, Oriental-Western foods, or even grab a glass of beer. It is one teenage restaurant with cheerful concept. As i stepped inside, it was a minimalist not to mention fresh looking restaurant with homey ambiance.

Kalaha at The Wharf

After a decade exploring the sea, Finally, i've found a restaurant depth inside a cavern named Remoire Cave. Ok, forget about it. Several weeks ago, i skipped class for whole day and ended up having a late dinner at Kalaha at The Wharf. By the time i was there, it was empty. Consider it as a luck for me, since i don't like taking pics when there's a lot of peoples around. Having a fast dinner made me feel like in the nest of pirates, with some nets attached as the foothold for the upper floor.

Convivium Cafe Deli

Strategically located at Panglima Polim there lies an authentic Italian deli with homey concept and atmosphere strengthened by its warm lighting to lighten up those gloomy hearts. Stand under the name Convivium which means a banquet , dining-party , entertainment in Latin. In a nutshell, Convivium is a place for eat & drink , it's a place for gathering and having good times. It's an ordinary house which decorated extraordinarily, upon the entering, i saw well-furnished with wooden touches including their wooden shelves and wood panelling around the place, while the floors covered with cheerful wallpapers. For some peoples it's the type of place which binds you and make you want to come here again & again , but i don't know if it's apply to me. We'll see.
